Our History
Jeff McCarrell, a pioneer in the Sports Nutrition and Bodybuilding industries, set out to develop a full line of liquid capsule delivered vitamins. As a three-time cancer survivor, Jeff's efforts were driven by an urgent need. He needed to find an effective way to deliver the therapeutic dosages of vitamins and minerals to his body. Jeff McCarrell engaged Dr. Ben L.D. Littlejohn III, MD to assist him in the mission to deliver a bioavailable product with a superior delivery system.
Dr. Littlejohn has persevered with a lifetime of managing his own diabetes. Dr. Littlejohn's disease also compels him in the mission to deliver products that are highly bioavailable and delivered in therapeutic dosages. After years of research and preparation, in 2009, Dr Ben Recommends was born. The first full line of liquid capsule delivered vitamins that are manufactured by a leading pharmaceutical company. The ingredients and manufacturing processes meet the highest quality standards. To assist people in their healthful journeys, Dr Ben Recommends delivers premium quality science-based products.

Jeff McCarrell has been a pioneer in the Sports Nutrition industry for more than 20 years. During the first half of his career, he consulted with and developed new products for companies such as: EAS, MET-Rx, Pinnacle,Biotest, and VPX. Then, in 2002, McCarrell co-founded Nutrex Research with the sole purpose of becoming the industry leader in combining cutting-edge pharmaceutical technology with research-based sports nutrition products. After bringing two key revolutions to the sports nutrition industry, Liquid Capsules and Multi-phase Capsules, McCarrell would spend several years battling cancer. During his struggle to keep the deadly disease in remission, he found low quality vitamin lines to be the norm. After examination he realized that many, if not all, vitamin companies used cheap delivery methods that waste more nutrition than they deliver to the body.With this in mind, McCarrell created Doctor Ben Recommends, the first complete vitamin line in liquid capsule form. Teaming with Dr. Ben L.D.Littlejohn III, MD, and a top global pharmaceutical company, McCarrell used the latest scientific research to formulate the most effective therapeutic dosages of vitamins, minerals and herbal compounds. McCarrell then merged these formulations with his revolutionary delivery systems. Dr Ben L.D. Littlejohn III, MD - Medical Director
Dr. Ben Littlejohn has nearly a decade of experience in clinical medicine. His interests in alternative and herbal medicine treatment have flowed into his clinical practice and eventually lead to his participation in the creation of Dr. Ben Recommends.
After his graduation from Drew/UCLA School of Medicine and a Harbor/UCLA Family Medicine residency he gained valuable experience working and volunteering in the underserved communities of Los Angeles, Oakland, Haiti, and Mexico. He has resolved to provide patients and customers natural and practical means to support an optimal immune system and overall health.
As a board certified family physician he has served patients in all age groups, from new born to the elderly. His practice includes: general medicine, preventative care, geriatrics, women's health, pediatrics, prenatal, travel medicine, gynecology, and sports medicine.Dr. Littlejohn keeps abreast of the latest technology and research and uses this knowledge as a driving force to enhance his practice of medicine. He is a leader in proper medicinal use of herbs and vitamins and lives the lifestyle he promotes. He balances his work-life with passions that include: surfing, community work, hiking, and basketball.
